Midland, MIAnonymous writes "MIDLAND ACTION CHAPTER REPORT, SEPTEMBER 2004

The Midland Action Chapter is in the process of reorganizing. We held a meeting on August 26 at the library in Midland. We now have five active members with a possibility of 3-4 more who are interested in joining. We are planning to have another meeting in a week and then have meetings every few weeks until we get officers elected & trained on their duties, reports written, constitution and by-laws updated, finances in order, etc. Within the next month or two we plan to have a membership campaign with publicity about our chapter in the newspaper, radio stations, TV, etc. We thank all the chapters who contributed financially to our chapter – National NAPH, Michigan Area NAPH, Ypsilanti Chapter, Mid-Michigan Chapter, Flint Chapter as well as all the members who have given us support during this difficult time. We are happy to report we received our first payment from the court for $1700 which we plan to apply towards our rent. Since the court case is behind us now we plan on getting back to our work of helping people with disabilities in our community.

Two members of our chapter, Richard & Amy Carpenter, attended the National Convention in Bay City on Friday and Richard sang and said the prayer for the Memorial Service. Another one of our members, Reverend June Price, presented a Workshop on Inclusion in Churches for Individuals with Disabilities on Saturday and officiated at the Installation Banquet Saturday evening. Two of our original chapter members, Jim & Brenda Smith, represented our chapter as delegates. We feel fortunate to have such talented and capable individuals as members of our Chapter. We would like to thank the Bay City Chapter for hosting such a great convention and to congratulate Bernie Travis on being elected our National President.

We look forward to reporting more good news about the progress of our chapter in the next issue of the NNN.
