Midland, MIAnonymous writes "MIDLAND ACTION CHAPTER

The Midland Action Chapter is off to a good start. We currently have 20 members.
Our officers are: President – Jim Smith;
Vice-President – Joe Sheffbuch; Corresponding Secretary – Marge Inman; Rec. Secretary/Treasurer – Brenda Smith; Chaplain – Mary Altman.

We had a good turn out at our Christmas Party with 20 adults and 6 children present. Albert Ost, National Director from Akron, Ohio, was there. Since most of our members are new, Albert gave a brief talk on NAPH’s purpose, organization, and direction for the future. Our members and volunteers, Kathy Johnroe, Melissa MacDonald and Nicole Smith, did a Christmas craft with the children while the adults had a brief meeting. Then everyone enjoyed dinner from an abundant selection of good food. We had a Christmas sing-a-long, a drawing for gift certificates and a gift exchange. One of our members, Richard Carpenter, went out and got donations for the gift certificates and poinsettia plants so everyone received something. A good time was had by all, especially the children.

In future meetings, we plan to work on updating our chapter Constitution and By-Laws as well as educate ourselves on the proposed changes on the National level. Some of our members will be working on Project T-Cups which is a committee set up to provide public transportation between the Tri-Cities.

Our next three meetings are tentatively set for the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland in Conf. Rm. A, at 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 21, February 18 and March 18, 2005. Everyone is welcome to come and visit us. We plan to have someone available to supervise the children and have an activity for them at each meeting, such as crafts, movies, stories, games, etc. As we have all been talking about, our youth are our future.

Happy New Year to everyone!
