 | Submitted by: Albert Ost – chapter President - AKRON DERBYTOWN CHAPTER REPORT |
Anonymous writes "Hello everyone, the past few months have been hard on some of our members, but we pulled together and got through it.
In late October, Jim Ellison lost his sister after a prolonged illness. Then at Christmas time Greg Chin’s Mother passed away unexpectedly. Then on January 5th my wife Nancy’s mother died from a stroke and on the 12th Jim Truman’s nephew Kevin Johnson passed. This is enough bad news for the whole next year so no more of that.
The City of Akron has set July 26th, 2005 the 15th anniversary of the signing of the ADA law for the dedication of a plaque honoring Jerry Snyder. The times has not been set yet, but if you want to attend please contact myself or Jim Truman for further details as the date nears.
We are planning to have a large garage sale in the spring as a fund raiser. and the candy sale is going well.
Jerry Snyder’s family graciously donated his durable medical equipment to our chapter. We had a vote on what to do with it, and have made the decision to try and sell some of it but with the stipulation that NAPH members get first chance and at a very reasonable price. So we have Three 16 inch Quickie wheelchairs. a Braun car topper, that automatically loads and stores a manual chair on the roof of the car. It was only used a very few times. There is also a wave air mattress that helps prevent bed sores. If any one is interested please contact Jim Ellison or me.
I need to thank Jim Ellison for his time, skills and parts that he so unselfishly gave to refurbish the wheelchairs.
Respectfully submitted
